Gas Burner Won't Light
Clicking but no flame, or no clicking at all
About This Problem
Gas burners that won't ignite are a common issue. Most problems are related to the ignition system or gas flow.
Possible Causes
- Wet or dirty igniter
- Clogged burner ports
- Faulty spark module
- Loose or damaged igniter
- Gas supply issue
- Igniter switch failure in knob
- Burner cap misaligned
Things to Try First
- 1Ensure burner caps and grates are properly positioned
- 2Clean igniter with a soft brush (dry thoroughly)
- 3Clear burner ports with a needle or pin
- 4Allow igniters to dry completely if wet from cleaning
- 5Check that gas supply valve is open
- 6Try lighting with a match to determine if it's an ignition vs. gas issue
