Who turns up
A refrigeration shop, not a general appliance company
One make, four appliances, one corner of Massachusetts. That is a narrower business than most and it is narrow on purpose.
A company that will fix a built-in refrigerator will usually also fix a washing machine, a wall oven and whatever else came in that morning. It is a sensible way to keep a van busy and a poor way to build the specific knowledge that built-in refrigeration needs — dual systems, defrost behaviour, evaporator airflow, and the way a panelled column has to be handled to get it out of a cabinet without marking the joinery.
So we do refrigerators, freezers, ice machines and wine storage, and nothing else. That is why the gasket, thermistor, fan motor or control board a unit needs is usually already on the van, and why the diagnosis is normally a reading rather than a guess.
It also means we will tell you when a repair is the wrong spend. A unit that needs a compressor and has two other things beginning to go is a replacement conversation, and you should have that conversation on the first visit rather than after two parts orders.
How a call runs
Four points where you get told something
-
On the phone
Model and serial off the plate if you can reach it, then a description of what the unit is doing and roughly when it started. Most faults narrow to two or three candidates in that conversation.
-
At the kitchen
Cabinet and freezer temperatures logged separately, condenser and evaporator inspected, and the defrost cycle observed rather than assumed. Panelled units come out on their rails only when they have to.
-
Before anything is opened
You get the fault, the part, the labour and the total, in that order. Nothing is ordered and nothing is dismantled until you have agreed to it.
-
After the repair
The unit is left running with the cabinet back at temperature and the panels aligned as they were found. If the same fault returns, the callback is not a second service call.
Sub-Zero Repair Wellesley is an independent business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or appointed by Sub-Zero Group, Inc., and anything covered under the manufacturer’s own terms should be arranged directly with them. We fit factory-approved parts.
If you would rather just describe it out loud, the phone is faster than any of this.
$95 service call, credited against the repair. On site 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.
